November 2009
Friends,
When I began running for City Council, I did so with a sense of optimism and a belief that one person can make a positive difference in their community. Others had more money, experience and name recognition than I did, but I felt that I had something to offer to Allentown and believed that hard work could overcome any obstacle.
With the Election now over, I am honored and humbled to see that this belief was confirmed. On November 3, I finished in a strong third place, earning 6,883 votes, more than enough to result in my election to Allentown City Council.
Now that the Election is over, the real work begins. I’m going to take a few days to relax and recover; from there, I’m going to hit the ground running and start working on transitioning into office. My election proves that Allentown does want fresh ideas and new blood, someone with my level of energy and expertise. I will now join six exceptional individuals as members of Allentown City Council and am truly looking forward to offering my perspective and experience to this diverse and talented legislative body.
Thank you to my wonderful fiancé Brenna, my father Burt, my mother Rose, my sister Becky (aka Tiny) and my in-laws, Jack and Cindy. Thank you to my Campaign Chair, Attorney Buddy Lesavoy, and my three co-chairs: State Representative Jennifer Mann, Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham and Tony Iannelli, President & CEO of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. And, of course, thank you to Ellie, my outstanding Treasurer, who is probably very happy that I won’t have to nag her to cut any more checks!
Thank you to everyone of you who donated your time, money and energy to making this campaign possible. When this campaign began, I asked you all to join me on this journey in the hopes that we could do something extraordinary for our community. You helped put me in a position to make an impact, to make a difference in this great city. I am ready to serve and can’t wait to get started.
Most importantly — thank you, Allentown, for your faith in me. I will not let you down.
Sincerely,
Michael Schlossberg
Councilman-Elect
